Mo Ibrahim, Africa’s best known entrepreneur and investor, speaks out on COP27

Dr Mo Ibrahim, founder and chair of the Mo Ibrahim Foundation, joins the conversation by sharing his insights on where Africa sits within the global climate emergency. In this video, Dr Ibrahim highlights three areas that are essential to understanding and addressing the climate crisis within the context of Africa and development.

• The devastating impact of the crisis on the continent and its people which is hindering development.

• Ways in which Africa is leading in best practice such as with renewable energy, but the need for more to be done to close the energy access gap and in a way that supports the wider development needs of Africa.

• The key role that Africa can play in advancing the global green economy, even though it is one of the lowest emitters in the world and is acting as a carbon sink for the planet.
