Africa Renewable Energy Fund II
Africa Renewable Energy Fund II (“AREF II”) is the second Africa focused renewable energy fund being raised by Berkeley Energy Africa. Berkeley Energy, founded in 2007, is a renewable energy developer and investor with presence in Africa and Asia. Berkeley built its experience across a range of renewable technologies including wind, solar, hydro and battery storage solutions for utility scale projects, as well as a distributed generation strategy focused in Asia. Berkeley launched its Africa business in 2014 leveraging this experience in Asia. African Infrastructure Investment Fund IV
The African Infrastructure Investment Fund IV invests across Africa according to three key themes: 1. digital infrastructure (including mobile telecoms towers, datacentres, and fibre optic networks); 2. energy transition (including renewable energy generation) and; 3. mobility and logistics (including ports, roads and other supporting infrastructure). The fund is managed by African Infrastructure Investment Managers (“AIIM”), a South Africa headquartered fund manager which has more than 20 years of experience investing in African infrastructure. Allianz Credit Emerging Markets Fund
The Allianz Credit Emerging Markets fund (ACE) will support Paris Agreement goals with a focus on climate finance across Africa, Latin America and Asia. It is a blended finance fund in which development finance institutions (such as BII) and MDBs, have committed $150 million of catalytic capital for the junior tranche of the fund. This will significantly reduce volatility and support the return expectations for private investors, that will provide up to a further $850 million if the expected final close target of $1 billion is reached.
