Alex Maddy

Alex is Managing Director and Head of Responsible Investing. She leads BII’s approach to embedding environmental, social, governance, and business integrity standards across its global portfolio — supporting BII’s investments to deliver both long-term commercial success and meaningful development impact.

Her work positions Responsible Investing as a catalyst for resilience, innovation, and sustainable growth.

Beyond her leadership of the practice, Alex represents BII on board and executive-level committees, she is a member of BII’s Reputational Risk Committee and helps shape impact strategy as part of the Impact Group leadership team.

Alex’s career has been focused on tackling integrity, governance and risk management challenges. Before joining BII, she was a Director at KPMG, where she ran the Corporate Intelligence practice within Forensic, Risk Management. Earlier, she led the Africa investigations practice at Control Risks and began her career as a private equity investment analyst at Pantheon Ventures.

Alex holds an MA in Geography and Diploma in French from Cambridge University, an MA in International Studies and Diplomacy from SOAS University, and accreditation as a Counter Fraud Specialist (ACFS, University of Portsmouth).
