Mark Kenderdine-Davies

Chief Legal Officer

Mark is British International Investment’s Chief Legal Officer with oversight of the company’s legal and tax affairs.

Having joined British International Investment in 2006 as its General Counsel/Company Secretary, Mark has built a high-calibre team of legal and tax specialists, who have advised on/supported every investment and divestment by the company since then.

Under Mark’s leadership, the team has negotiated debt, equity, fund, project finance, supply chain finance, trade finance and risk participation investments in Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean. Mark provides institutional counsel on a broad range of issues, serving on BII’s Operations Committee amongst others.

Mark joined us from Gartmore Investment Management where he was Legal Counsel. Prior to that, he performed a similar role at Threadneedle Asset Management. From 1994 to 2002, Mark worked in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and Myanmar as General Counsel/Senior Investment Executive at Indochina Asset Management, having previously practiced law as a partner at a London law firm.

Mark has an LLB (Hons) from the University of Liverpool, an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and is admitted to practice as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales.

He also serves as chair of the Legal and Regulatory Council of the NY-based Global Private Capital Association (GPCA) and co-chair of the Legal and Regulatory Committee of the African Private Capital Association (AVCA). Mark is a member of the UK Regional Board of the Global Alliance of Impact Lawyers (GAIL), the legal network for social impact, and of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam– UK Network, a friendship association.
