CDC presents efforts to combat climate change to International Development Committee

Today, we gave evidence in front of the International Development Committee (IDC) about our ongoing work to combat climate change.

Colin Buckley, CDC’s Chief Operating Officer, answered a range of questions from the Committee on our current and future investments, highlighting our considered approach to combating climate change since identifying it as a key commitment area in our 2017-2021 Strategic Framework.

The panel focused on how we ensure our investments reach families and businesses most in need by providing access to affordable, renewable energy. Some of the projects mentioned in the Committee meeting include our current investment in off-grid solar energy company M-Kopa, and hydro-electric power project Virunga Energy in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The IDC monitors the administration and spending of the Department for International Development (DFID), our shareholder.
