About the event

In November last year over 150 partners joined the British International Investment team in Cape Town, South Africa for the second Innovation for Impact summit.

Innovation for Impact is our annual venture capital (VC) event, which brings together leaders from across the VC ecosystem in Africa and South Asia, including investors and start-up founders for two interactive days of insight, inspiration, and networking. 

Highlights from the 2023 Innovation for Impact summit

As well as keynotes and panel discussions, there were smaller break-out conversations, speed-dating sessions, workshops and plenty of opportunities to network.

Themes explored included – scaling digital businesses for returns and impact; driving South-South collaboration for value; the scale of impact of venture capital; thematic investing  and much more.

There were also workshops on the following topics – the journey from fund to firm; crystallising returns; driving value-add strategies; building enduring firms; and putting ESG into action.

We also heard from Kris Gopalakrishnan, a pioneering global business and technology thought leader who helped co-found Infosys, India’s biggest technology company. He is currently Chairman of Axilor Ventures, a firm which invests in start ups and the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
